Javanese Carved Teak Indo Wedding Chest Daybed from Bali
About the Item
Amazing Indo-Javanese hand-carved wedding chest daybed crafted from teak. Known as a Grobog the chest was filled with gifts for the bride inside the storage area. The case is embellished with beautiful carved details. Constructed almost entirely with mortise and tenon joinery. The top has been fitted with a newly upholstered cushion in a powder blue linen style fabric. The bed is 25.5 inches high and has a 3 inch pad for a total of 28.5 inch bed height. The bed originally had wooden wheels on each corner which are no longer attached. The bed was imported from Bali for an estate in Hollywood, CA. Includes pad and bolster pillow in an off-white boućle fabric.
