Art Deco design dining chairs from The Netherlands. Frits Spanjaard for 'The Hague School' 1930s. The 4 high-quality chairs with a high back have beautiful features, have been carved and re-waxed. The purple fabric of the seat and back is from a later date. The Haagse School is the name for a group of designers who mostly lived and worked in The Hague, the Netherlands and who mainly focused on interior and furniture design. They represent the business, functional direction in Art Deco. Their furniture and interiors were considered very modern by many in the 1920s and 1930s. The functionality of the furniture is considered more important by the designers of the Haagse School than the form. A shape that is characterized by simple, clean contours and linearity.
