Midcentury Contempora Dining Chairs by William Clingman for J. L. Metz Set of 6

About the Item

Handsome set of six midcentury dining chairs from J. L. Metz Furniture’s Contempora line designed by William J. Clingman. They are not marked but well documented and in fabulous vintage condition, circa 1959. If you are looking for a set of dining room chairs that combine the glamour of Hollywood Regency, the lines of midcentury, and the pizzazz of Art Deco……you found them! This set of six gorgeous cherry and Carpathian elm burlwood high back dining chairs are part of the Contempora line designed by William J. Clingman for the J. L. Metz Furniture Company. It is reported Mr. Clingman spent two months in Italy where he studied new Italian furniture prior to designing his Contempora line. It shows. Their details abound. From their metal sabots on the tips of the round tapered legs and metal shoulders to their burled slat back and weathered cherry frame. This set of six is sporting an awesome tomato red upholstered seat. You can’t help but fall in love with these beauties. Make them yours.
