About the Item

This is a matched set of eight walnut chairs consisting of 2 arms and 6 sides. The chairs were made in England, circa 1880. They are in the William and Mary style. They have a beautifully shaped crest to the top of each chair that has fantastic quality hand carvings. There are turned and reeded uprights on the right and left upper sides of each chair. There is a molded and shaped frame to the center of each back that is caned. All of the caning is in wonderful condition with no breaks, tears, holes or rips. The chairs have wonderfully shaped front legs with great quality turned back legs and stretchers. The finish and physical condition are fabulous. The armchairs measure: 25 in. wide x 23 1/2 in. deep x 55 1/4 in. tall. The side chairs measure: 22 in. wide x 19 in. deep x 53 1/2 in. tall. This is a remarkable set of chairs in a style and condition that is extremely difficult to find.
