Chinese Vintage Low Kang Table with Distressed Patina and Carved Feet

About the Item

A Chinese vintage low Kang table from the mid 20th century, with multi color lacquer. Created in China during the midcentury period, this low Kang table features a long and narrow rectangular top sitting above eight petite carved feet. The term kang comes from a platform destined to receive people atop, typically found in Northern China and made of hollow brick, allowing to burn fuel underneath to provide some heat. Furniture around had therefore to be low. Boasting a nicey weathered patina, this vintage low Kang table will make for a charming addition to any home, perhaps used as a footstool along a farm table.
