Omersa Dog Lovers Handcrafted Leather Labrador Footstool Ottoman Stud Collar

About the Item

Attention dog lovers , listed is a Labrador footstool or sculpture by Omersa of England in beautiful rick brown leather. I believe this to be a large size , no longer made, now only in medium which is 4" less in width from front to back. Also, they no longer make the tan studded collar, like on this example. First designed in 1980s, this is a more recent production. In very nice condition, doesn't appear to have been used as a footstool. Omersa's designed leather animals for Omersa Leatherworks of England, Omersa & Company, Liberties of London and Abercrombie and Fitch. Omersa made his first leather animal, a pig, in 1927 and from there created a full suite of interesting and charismatic creatures. Each leather animal is of the highest quality, beautifully stained and waxed. Omersa animal is primarily designed as a decorative accessory for an interior space. The larger sizes ( large, medium and standard sizes) can be used as a footstool. The main product features are: • Top grain “unfinished” cowhide leather which will develop natural scuff marks reflecting the wear and tear of life • Internal metal and wooden frame to give support and weight • Hand filled with wood wool (shredded pine wood) to create shape and features • as each piece of leather behaves differently no two animals are the same, the sizes given are approximate and will vary • Hand stained mahogany brown, waxed, and polished NOTE: the stain is water-based and can be susceptible to water damage. • Signed Pino Signoretto "Lovers" Sculpture Italian Glass Artist Scavo Technique
    By Pino Signoretto
    Located in St. Louis, MO
Italian glass master Pino Signoretto (1944-2017) signed "Lovers" sculpture with the Scavo technique, circa 1970s. Pino was a student of the master Alfredo Barbini, at 19 of age, he was already a Glass Master. Scavo technique gives it a texture as if it was ancient Roman glass, see description below. In very nice original condition, no damage. Scavo means 'dug up' and imitates ancient objects in the form and texture to those found in archaeological excavations. During manufacturing, a mixture of several powders (carbonates nitrates, talc, silica, etc.) is dispersed on the glass surface. Then the object is heated up to 800-Celsius degrees. Courtesy of Urbanglass: One of the most famous and widely hailed glass masters in the world, Pino Signoretto, known for his incredible facility in sculpting from hot glass, died at the age of 74 on December 30th, 2017. Equally comfortable fabricating for international artists such as Salvatore Dali...
