Comprising two caned armchairs and a glass-top coffee table
Description:
A stylish and evocative three-piece mid-century bamboo lounge set in the manner of McGuire Furniture, featuring two Brighton Pavilion-style armchairs and a coordinating glass-top cocktail table. The armchairs are finely crafted in the chinoiserie taste with gracefully arched backs, caned seats, and geometric fretwork typical of the Brighton Pavilion form, a style long favored in Hollywood Regency and Palm Beach interiors. The matching coffee table, composed of grid-form bamboo latticework with an inset glass top, provides a bold yet airy centerpiece.
Though unmarked, the quality of construction—including rawhide wrappings and tightly woven caning—is consistent with the production methods of McGuire. The set reflects the relaxed sophistication of California and East Coast coastal design.

Commissioned by legendary interior designer Billy Baldwin for a residence at 710 Park Avenue, New York City—a building synonymous with high-style Manhattan living. Baldwin, known for his impeccable taste and A-list clientele, helped define American interior design in the 20th century.
