New Stock ✅ Pair of Skippers Møbler Durup of White Atlanta Leather Reclining Lounge Chairs and Footstool by Sven Ellekar Mid Century Vintage Retro MCM Made in Denmark by Svend Skipper for Skippers Møbler and designed by Sven Ellekaer. Upholstered in cream off white leather of high quality with a light metal & wooden teak frame. Stamped with the date of manufacture ‘25-8-86’. Three seater matching sofa available on a separate listing. Chair Dimensions Height - 93cm Width - 87cm Depth - 93cm Seat Height - 42cm Sven Ellekaer studied architecture and design at the Copenhagen School of Art and Crafts before working as a designer for various companies, including Fritz Hansen and Illums Bolighus. He is best known for his work on wooden furniture, such as chairs, tables and cabinets. His designs were often characterized by simple geometric shapes, clean lines and natural materials. He was also known for his use of bright colors, which added a touch of playfulness to his creations. Sven Ellekaer won numerous awards for his designs, including the Lunning Prize in 1954. His creations are still highly appreciated today for their timeless elegance and craftsmanship. Born in Svendborg, Denmark, in 1919, Skipper began his design career after the Second World War. He began working for the furniture company Carl Hansen & Son in 1950, where he designed some of its most iconic pieces. Skipper was known for his skilful use of wood, as well as for his ability to create furniture that was both functional and elegant. He was influenced by the work of designers such as Arne Jacobsen and Finn Juhl. Over the years, Skipper created many outstanding pieces of furniture for Carl Hansen & Son, including armchairs, sofas, coffee tables and chairs. Many of his designs won prestigious awards. Skipper also worked for other Danish furniture companies, including Fritz Hansen and Thorald Madsen, where he continued to produce innovative and aesthetically pleasing designs. Today, Svend Skipper's furniture is highly prized by collectors and design enthusiasts worldwide for its timeless elegance and exceptional quality.
