80s Mario Botta Vintage Alias 602 Seconda Chair Black Steel Seat, Grey Frame

About the Item

Italian Postmodern 1980s "Seconda" 602 Chair by Mario Botta for Alias. Features a painted steel perforated black seat, and a black backrest made up of two simple cylindrical elements upholstered in black polyurethane, that roll!! The frame is a stunning and unobtrusive light grey lacquered steel. Very sturdy and in excellent condition throughout! Marked "Alias" Made in Italy. Authentic Vintage piece. See image 7 here. Born in Mendrisio in 1943, Mario Botta graduated from the University of Venice, where he worked with Le Corbusier and Luis Kahn. He taught and carried out research in Europe, Asia and the US. He has been working with Alias since 1982. For them he designed two of his most famous chairs seconda and quinta – now on show at the MoMA. An award-winning architect, he has published several works, and in 1996 founded the Academy of Swiss Architecture. He lives and works in Lugano. This Dining table or desk, titled the model "Tesi" from 1986, was designed by Mario Botta and produced by Alias.
