About the Item

An Anglo-Indian wood and cane plantation chair from the early 20th century, with foliage-themed bone inlay and extending arms. Created during the early years of the 20th century, this Anglo Indian plantation chair features a slanted back topped with a carved crest and petite turned balusters. It is its delicately inlaid motifs however, which attract all the attention with a lovely décor of scrolling foliage. Designed to provide a relaxing experience to the sitter, the chair features a nicely curving body connected to two large arms with extending sections. The chair is raised on four legs, the front ones being turned with rectangular block joints on the knees, while the back ones show a in-curving shape. Plantation chairs combine form and function beautifully. Their extended arms allowed the colonials to relax with their feet up. The sloping continuous back and flat planks that extend beyond the arms are the typical traits of the plantation chair. Placed indoors or outdoors (under a covered patio), this inlaid Anglo Indian plantation chair from the early 20th century will make for a stunning addition to any home!
