Meticulously and expertly restored in a soft and luxurious chenille, this single floating cube lounge chair is by Flair, Inc. a division of Bernhardt Furniture, and is in the style of and often mis-attributed to Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin. Such incredible design giving the appearance the seat back is floating, complimenting the cubist styled chrome base. Comfortable, this armchairhas a sturdy seat back and plush comfy loose seat cushion. Signed underneath cushion with Flair, Inc tag. The chrome base is in excellent original condition and is sturdy and structurally sound. The fabric was reupholstered with a soft deep blue chenille fabric. Consider using as a side chair, cafe or breakfast table chair, bedside chair, fireside chair, dressing or changing room chair, hallway chair, entryway or mudroom chair, nursing or reading chair, conference room chair, office or desk chair, guest chair, lobby chair, lounge chair or occasional chair ideal in virtually any setting. This club chair would work great in a Post-Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern or Danish modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary or Zen / Minimalism room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, Classical or Art Deco room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an Apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. About Milo Baughman (Designer)

Milo Baughman was one of the most agile and adept modern American furniture designers of the late 20th century. A prolific lecturer and writer on the benefits of good design — he taught for years at Brigham Young University — Baughman (whose often-scrambled surname is pronounced BAWF-man) focused almost exclusively on residential furnishings, having a particular talent for lounge chairs, perhaps the most sociable piece of furniture.

     Like his fellow adoptive Californians Charles and Ray Eames, Baughman’s furniture has a relaxed and breezy air. Baughman was famously opposed to ostentatious and idiosyncratic designs that were made to excite attention. While many of his chair designs are enlivened by such effects as tufted upholstery, Baughman tended to let his materials carry the aesthetic weight, most often relying on chair and table frames made of sturdy and sleek flat-bar chromed metal, and chairs, tables and cabinets finished with highly-figured wood veneers.

     Like his colleagues Karl Springer and the multifarious Pierre Cardin, Baughman’s designs are emblematic of the 1970s: sleek, sure and scintillating. As you will see from the furniture presented on these pages, Milo Baughman’s designs are ably employed as either the heart of a décor or its focal point.
