Large Lounge or Club Chair with Cabriole Legs, Denmark 1940's
About the Item
Sublime large scale club chair in the style of Fritz Hansen made in the early 1940s. The chair is unmarked and we are not aware of the Designer nor maker. Raised on square cabriole legs made from beech wood. This is a bit unusual as most chairs from period have more simple designed legs. The loose cushion is also unusual as chairs of the era usually had fixed seats. Superbly comfortable with dramatic low and wide proportions, coil springs in seat and back, and a charming and very strong presence to anchor any room. Charming original two-tone wool fabric is showing wear and we recommend having it reupholstered. We can reupholster the chair at a very attractive price and can recover in your fabric or our own lambswool or even real shearling. Overall very good sturdy condition.
