Martin Eisler Lounge Chair in Black Leather

About the Item

Martin Eisler, lounge chair, iron, leather, Brazil, 1950s Elegant and modern lounge chair by Brazilian designer Martin Eisler. A visually interesting contrast is created between the thin frame and the voluminous, solid seat, which underlines the characteristic style. The back develops in a curvaceous movement into the armrests and subsequently the seat, making the lounge chair look interesting from every point of view. When seated you experience a pleasant, enclosed feeling due to the deep seat. The inviting and embracing shape is a hallmark of the Austrian-Brazilian designer Eisler. Along with many of the most important Brazilian designers, Martin Eisler (1913-1977) was educated in Europe. He studied architecture in Austria and moved to Buenos Aires in 1938. In the same year, he founded an architecture firm and organized an exhibition of his furniture. From 1952 onwards, he stayed in Sao Paulo where he worked with Carlo Hauner and Ernesto Wolf to found Móveis Artesenal in 1995 which would later become Forma.

Concha armchair is one of the most iconic pieces designed by Martin Eisler (1913-1977). The armchair was created in 1953 and produced by Móveis Artesanal and then Forma S.A. Móveis e Objetos de Arte. “Galeria Artesanal,” the first showroom that presented the furniture and objects created by Moveis Artesanal and HG Ceramica, used to sell the Concha Armchair and also show it in their advertisements in magazines. The armchair features a comfortable and extremely reclined shell-shaped upholstered seat that fits the body. Other pieces combined the same iron structure with different seat types in shell shape: upholstered, made of strings, or leather straps. The pieces are in original condition. Restoration services...

  • Customizable Tacchini Reversível Armchair Designed by Martin Eisler
    By Martin Eisler, Tacchini
    Located in New York, NY
Fruit of the creative genius of the architect and designer Martin Eisler, Reversível is an historic piece of Carioca design, and Tacchini fell in love with its incredibly innovative style. With the simplicity of its lines and movement, this armchair transforms with casual elegance. The dynamic, flexible reissue of Reversível offers dual comfort with two possible seat positions, to sit in the chair with the back upright, or really relax in a semi-reclining position, parallel with the backrest. The simple, natural movement makes it seem an obvious solution, but it actually represents as ground-breaking an intuition now as then. This original, informal seat with its distinctive lines is completed with a metal structure and fabric coverings. Reversível bears witness to the soft, sensuality of Brazilian 1950s design, a combination of tradition and creativity, folk craft and visionary innovation. To celebrate the rebirth of the iconic Reversível armchair in the brand new Classics...
