A Pair of Allan Gould Iron and String “Bow” Lounge Chairs, 1950s

About the Item

An early pair of American modern iron and string indoor/outdoor lounge chairs designed by Allan Gould for Functional Furniture. Originally introduced in 1952, we believe these to be some of the earliest examples due to the lack of welded cross stretchers as seen in other models. A really smart design incorporating welded steal frames with woven cotton cording as the seating surface. The cording has a slight give when seated providing a comfortable sit. These would be a wonderful addition to any mid-century modern or contemporary decor.
