About the Item

Pair of Peter Strassl Spine Back Lounge Chairs or Chaise Lounges, Germany, 1978 Designed by Peter Strassl in Germany in 1978, this pair of chaise lounge chairs feature a striking sculptural shape - the white, painted solid beech wooden spines give it a distinct skeletal appearance, harmonizing with the gun-metal powder--coated painted frame. In excellent original condition, the chairs exhibit a minor patina that adds character, reflecting age and usage. Crafted by Strassl specifically for the Kunsthaus Munich exhibition circa 1978, the architect aimed to achieve a remarkable balance of lightweight construction and exceptional durability. The result is an extraordinary wooden chair that successfully fulfills this vision. These chairs are in fully original condition. Cushions in video are not for sale. Unsigned. Literature: Cf. Setz dich!, p. 122/123.
