About the Item

Designed by William Westenhaver, he made these chairs for his company, Western International Trading Co. in the 1960s. His pieces were revolutionary in the world of Tiki, blending its tropical style with a modern touch. His popularity steadily grew, peaking when Elvis Presley furnished his entire Jungle Room at his estate exclusively with Witco. Many pieces are still around, scattered at hotels and such across North America, and others are even in the galleries of extraordinary interior designers such as Amy Lau. These particular chairs feature a barrel form with slanted arms. Across the top and the arms are a series of solid carved cedar squares, accented with bright white upholstery. The entire chair is set on a square plinth base finished the same way. It hides a 360 degree swivel mechanism. These chairs go great with our matching sofa and coffee table, making for the awesome living room set you see in the last photo of this listing. In good vintage and original condition. General wear throughout. While we would not recommend reupholstering, we can certainly offer this service from our in-house professionals. At this time, we have the entire living room set available. This includes the sofa, lounge chairs, and coffee table. They go excellently with one another.
