About the Item

Vittorio Introini “Relax” Armchair & Footrest for Felice Rossi, 1978 — Sculptural 70s Glam at Its Finest This chair is absolutely stunning! Designed by Italian trailblazer Vittorio Introini for Felice Rossi in 1978, the “Relax” armchair and footrest set is a masterclass in where mid-century modern cool crashes headfirst into the wild frontier of postmodernism. This sculptural wonder is like an anti-gravity wiggle, defying every expectation of what a chair should look like. And trust us — it’s much bigger (and badder) in person than it looks. That swoopy back? A deceivingly massive 43" wide. It practically wraps you up like a 1970s fever dream you never want to wake from. (And trust me, it's comfortable!) Upholstered in a fine off-white Belgian cotton boucle, the chair and footrest feel like sinking into a cloud — the kind of cloud where disco never died and design was pure, unapologetic fantasy. This chair is also is ultra rare — we're the only dealer currently with one available stateside. Not another one hiding in a warehouse. Not another one waiting in customs. Just this beauty, ready to find its forever home. In the late 60s and 70s, Vittorio Introini was moving in the same visionary circles as Joe Colombo, Gio Ponti, and Vico Magistretti — daring designers who weren’t content to simply follow modernism’s rules. Introini was about blurring the lines: a little mid-century structure here, a splash of postmodern rebellion there, and a whole lot of Italian bravado everywhere. His pieces are bold, futuristic, and architectural — yet somehow still warm and soulful. Whether you’re building out a killer mid-century collection, leaning hard into a Wabi-Sabi meets postmodern interior, or just know a rare design icon when you see one, this Relax chair and footrest is pure gold. It’s functional art. It’s 1970s glamour without the kitsch. It’s a conversation starter, a room anchor, and your next great design flex all rolled into one. Slide in, sink back, and let the spirit of 1978 wrap you up in its off-white boucle embrace. Chair Measures: 43" W x 34" D x 36" T Ottoman Measures: 20" W x 28" D x 19" T
