Don’t you just LOVE options and versatility?? US TOO!!! Check out this awesome channeled sectional love seat in the style of designs by Jay Spectre. It has beautiful vertical channeled sides and back, is pretty large scale, and sets low to the floor. And if you separate each piece, the love seat turns into a wonderful pair of low, single arm lounge chairs. The deep inviting seats are foam and poly filled and the back pillows are feather down… talk about COMFORTABLE!!! It wears a fabulous blue and white kind of squiggly patterned fabric which has been professionally shampooed but you will most likely want to recover as it has some lingering stains and fading. It will obviously be superb seating for your modern to postmodern style family or living room either as a love seat or as a pair of lounge chairs. Different positions will create a whole new look to your room! Turned at an angle, each chair looks like a piece of pizza pie!! Set them side by side with a unique side or accent table between them. How about a love seat in the den flanking the fireplace? Possibilities are as limitless as your imagination!
Jay Spectre began his design career in 1951 in his hometown Louisville, Kentucky. In 1968 he moved to New York to start his own design firm where he was recognized for his exceptional work. Politicians and movie stars were among some of his clients. He designed interiors for luxury homes, private jets, yachts, and offices with Art Deco, Asian, and African influences with hand-carved and high-tech elements. He was the first designer represented in the permanent collection of the New York State Museum and he was named on the top eight designer list of the Designers of America for the Smithsonian Institution as part of the Giants of Design in 1979. He received multiple awards such as the Residential Design Excellence Award in 1982 from The Chicago Merchandise Mart and also received their Dean of Design award in 1983. He has work published and interviews in magazines and journals such as Interior Design, Architectural Digest, House Beautiful, Abitare, and other design platforms. The Jay Spectre Collection is a sixty-piece collection of furniture utilizing glass, wood, and metals. It was designed especially for the Century Furniture Company while other projects include a line of lamps for George W. Hansen, a print collection for American Textiles, and several others. Mr. Spectre passed away in 1992 but his timeless designs live on.
This is exceptional, versatile seating in the style of famed designer Jay Spectre. Super comfortable and bursting with incredible modern to postmodern style. What are you waiting for? Make it YOURS!!!

Mid-Century Modern Black Faux Leather Love Seat Sofa by Taylor Chair Co. Style D
By Harvey Probber, Dunbar Furniture, Taylor Chair co., Edward Wormley
Located in Topeka, KS
Handsome Mid-Century Modern love seat length sofa in black vinyl faux leather upholstery and walnut base in the style of Wormley for Dunbar or Harvey Probber. It is in wonderful vintage condition. We believe the black vinyl to be fairly new. The walnut base does have age appropriate little nicks and dings. Please see photos, circa 1960s.
It is hard to say who designed and produced this fabulously gorgeous and simple streamline Mid-Century Modern style sofa first. Was is Edward Wormley for Dunbar? Was it Harvey Probber or Florence Knoll? Or, did Taylor Chair Company, the maker of this particular love seat, actually make their rendition first? Does it matter? You will love the lines and materials used in this two-seat love seat Lawson shape sofa with a tight back and two loose seat cushions. It is covered in a very nice and natural looking black faux leather vinyl. So close to the real thing its is hard to tell the difference. And sets on a walnut Parsons’ style base. Simple but very handsome.
Taylor Chair Company was founded by Benjamin Fitch in 1816 Bedford, Ohio. He originally made split-bottom chairs in his cabin. In 1841 one of Mr. Fitch’s employees, William O. Taylor, married Mr. Fitch’s daughter. William quickly took over active management of the company and by late 1940s the company became known as W.O. Taylor Factory. After a fire in the original location the factory moved. In 1871 W.O. Taylor’s son, Vincent A. Taylor, took the helm and the name was changed to W.O. Taylor and Son as they became an award-winning company. In 1885 the company incorporated becoming a public company known as The Taylor Chair...
