About the Item
Everyone knows the love seat is nothing more than a glorified bench, or a miniature
couch, but the fact is it's often a necessary item for city dwellers who lack the room
for a sectional. Our design marries the warmth and charm of a Shaker spindle back
bench with the comfort of a modern couch. Hand shaved spindles provide back
support, and its solid wood construction ensures that the piece will be an heirloom.
The piece comes standard with cushions upholstered in Caroline Z Hurley's Oaxaca Navy linen.
Each of our Tranquilo Loveseats begins with carefully selected rift sawn lumber. The boards are milled on our well tuned machines, then shaped by hand into spindles, arms and combs. Once assembled, it is finished with a natural oil and wax blend.
Shown in white oak, also available in walnut.

West of Noble is a Los Angeles based design practice dedicated to the pursuit of making wooden furniture by hand. It was founded by designer and itinerant woodworker Greg Mitchell in Greenpoint, Brooklyn in 2011, but is inspired by a lifetime of travel, time spent on the sea, various odd jobs, wooden sailboats, and friends and family; without whom the company would not exist. Our designs are guided by the making process, and the unpredictable nature of our chosen material. We aim for the simplest line in each piece, believing it is only finished when there is nothing left to take away.
