Meridiana Chair in Transparent by Christophe Pillet for Driade
Located in Brooklyn, NY
The Meridiana table stems from the ultimate globetrotter chair, revised this year with solid wooden legs. An archetype of the coffee shop or domestic table, it displays a precious balance between the round, wood particleboard top and the solid wood frame and legs. A mass-colored clay mixture is smoothed over the top by hand with a scraper. The table’s aesthetic is distinguished by the shaded, handmade finish of its top. Available in the following colors: Volcano red, Lava black and Champagne.
Born in 1959, he graduated from the Academy of Decorative Arts in Nice in 1985 and a year later took a post-graduate course at the Domus Academy in Milan. From 1986 to 1988 he worked with Martine Bedin in Milan, and from 1988 to 1993 with Philippe Starck in Paris. His first items of furniture, issued by XO, date from 1991. Since May 1993 he has been working as an independent designer. His work ranges from furniture to product design, from interior design to architecture and exhibit design. He works, among others, with Artelano, Cappellini, Ceccotti, JC Decaux, Driade, Mazzega, Moroso, Trussardi, Daum, Moët e Chandon, Ecart International, Lacoste Lancome, l’Oreal, Shiseido, Whirlpool. Nominated Creator of the Year in 1995, he has exhibited his works at the Georges Pompidou Center in Paris, at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Lucerne and at many other prestige venues. "Blocco" Fuchsia or Blue Faux Fur Pouf Designed by Nanda Vigo for Driade
By Driade, Nanda Vigo
Located in Brooklyn, NY
"Blocco" is a pouf, designed by Nanda Vigo and manufactured by Driade, with wooden frame and padding in polyurethane foam of varying density. Upholstery in fuchsia or blue faux fur.
Indoor use only.
DIMENSIONS:
D. 19.2", W. 17.3", H. 22.8", Seat H. 14.1"
The "Blocco" seat / pouf, designed with such purpose in 1970, has got now a fresh re-edition with the same function but with a more joyful spirit by offering colorful covers. Have a nice seat!
Nanda Vigo said about "Blocco":
"Many elements called “furniture” are needed that actually remain “fixed”, once set, to the well-being. I've always rejected the tendency to overload space; therefore I have always worked to the limit of need."
NANDA VIGO, born in Milan in 1936, lives in East Africa and works in Milan. She showed an interest in art at a very early age, when she had the opportunity to spend time with Filippo de Pisis, a family friend, and to study the architecture of Giuseppe Terragni, in which she immediately noticed the subtle employment of natural light. She studied architecture at the Ecole Polytechnique in Lausanne, worked as an intern in San Francisco, then returned to Italy where she opened her own studio in Milan.
The underlying characteristic of the work has always been the relationship between light and space, which she has developed in a series of “environments” that blend architecture and design. In 1959 she began to visit the studio of Lucio Fontana and got to know that artists who founded the Azimut Gallery in Milan: Piero Manzoni, Enrico Castellani and Vincenzo Agnetti. During that period, she developed relations with the artists of the Zero group in Germany, the Netherlands and France, as a result of which her work was shown in more than 400 solo and group exhibitions throughout Europe.
Between 1964 and 1966 she participated in some thirteen Zero exhibitions, including “Nul 65” at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, and “Zero: An Exhibition of European Experimental Art” at the Modern Art Gallery in Washington D.C.. She was the curator of the legendary exhibition “Zero avantgarde” in 1965 in Fontana’s studio in Milan, at which some 28 artists were represented. In 1964 she created Utopie with Lucio Fontana for the Triennale. Again at the Triennale, in 1973 she organized a performance at which architects and artists freely intervened: it's considered to have been the first happening at the event.
In 1974 she received the New York Award for the Industrial Design for the Golden Gate lamp...

"Nemo" Denim Colored Head-Armchair Designed by Fabio Novembre for Driade, 2017
By Driade, Fabio Novembre
Located in Brooklyn, NY
"Nemo" is an iconic polyethylene monobloc head-armchair available in denim color, made by rotational molding.
Fixed (indoor and outdoor use) or swivel (indoor use only) versions available.
DIMENSIONS:
D. 32.6", W. 35.4", H. 53.1", Seat H. 16.1"
FABIO NOVEMBRE uses furniture design to tell intense and fascinating stories in which the protagonist is often the human figure. This human figure is capable of becoming abstract and universal, able to propose a mythical beauty as occurred in Greek art. So that Nemo, a face with classic features, is hollowed out to create an inhabitable space. The result is a head-armchair to be lived from the inside. Like a mask, it simultaneously conceals and reveals its inhabitant.
Fabio Novembre said about Nemo:
"In 2010 it happened that the name "Nemo" immediately evoked the famous little fish, protagonist of the movie of the same name, made by Pixar in 2003.
If this question had been asked at the end of the nineteenth century, the answer would have probably been Captain Nemo...
