Victorian Wicker Rocking Chair

This is a classic Bar Harbor style wicker chair that dates to the first half of the twentieth century. The chair was reupholstered in a cherry red fabric and repainted at some point in the late twentieth century. The chair is in very good condition; the upholstery, although showing sign of use, is in very acceptable condition. We have decided not to restore the chair as the indications of wear are signs of original desirable patina and add character to the chair. This is a charming pair of circa 1960s Italian painted forged iron and tole arm chairs in a quasi-neoclassical style. The down scrolling arms and modified klismos form echo early 19th century French iron pieces, but then you come to the funky iron rope detailing and tassels.
