About the Item

Introducing an iconic Model No. 182 Rocking Chair by Frank Reenskaug for Bramin Mobler. Constructed from a frame of solid Burmese teak in excellent original condition this instantly recognizable rocker features new white cotton bouclé upholstery by Knoll Fabrics as well as new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. Frank Reenskaug began his studies in furniture design in 1952 at the SHKS school in Norway. That same year, he introduced a folding chair that would, just two years later, be featured at the Triennalen Pavilion in Milan. In 1956, his Cross Chair became the first of his creations to enter mass production through the Danish furniture company N.A. Jørgensen, which would later be known as Bramin. In 1958, Bramin launched Reenskaug's now-iconic Rocking Chair No. 182-a groundbreaking concept at the time: a high-quality, flat-pack rocking chair that could be easily assembled at home and was offered at an affordable price. It quickly became his most commercially successful design and achieved wide international popularity. With it's archetypally Danish Modern stance, superb woodgrains and new upholstery this icon of Scandinavian Modern Design is ideal for collectors and designers alike searching for an authentic Model 182 Rocking Chair that is ready for a literal lifetime more of use. Perfectly balanced and incredibly comfortable this rocker can blend seamlessly against a multitude of design backdrops from Mid-Century Modern to Boho Chic to Contemporary and everything in between. Make it yours today. ---Dimensions--- Width: 26.5 in / 67.31 cm Depth: 32 in / 81.28 cm Height: 35.25 in / 89.54 cm Seat Height: 17 in / 43.18 cm Arm Height: 24 in / 60.96 cm This elegantly-designed and crafted rocker has recently undergone a partial restoration. The solid Burmese teak frame shows only minor nicks and light scratches mostly relegated to the feet (the worst of which can be seen in the detail photos provided) but shows no stains, gouges or cracks whatsoever and the teak woodgrains are absolutely stunning in natural light. The upholstery, redone in a fabulous white cotton bouclé, is in showroom, never-sat-in condition. The seat and back cushion have been replaced with new medium density foam for maximum comfort and longevity. The chair remains perfectly balanced and rocks with ease and without issue. This rocker is perfectly balanced, incredibly comfortable and ready for a literal lifetime more of use thanks to it's recent restoration process. Please view all photos and natural light video provided for details on this rocker's current condition. We're limited on the amount of media we can post so additional photos and videos are available upon request.
