About

Iconic French vintage sofa lounge set, beautifully reupholstered with our stain free, washable and very durable yellow "Cordoba Chartreuse" fabric. Original genuine vintage "Togo" produced by Ligne Roset, France and designed by Michel Ducaroy in 1973. Be WARNED that recently there are a lot of FAKE TOGO Ligne Roset COPIES flooding the on-line marketplaces and websites. We are well known in Europe for our excellent Togo by Ligne Roset seating re-upholstering specialty and experience. We use only our top quality unique signature Black or Cognac leather or our unique durable stain free fabrics to upholster. This listing offers these Ligne Roset Togo modules re-upholstered and verified to be as good as new by our quality controllers. This listing consists of: One 3-seater (dimension H70xW174xD102cm ) 21Kg One 2-seater (dimension H70xW131xD102 cm ) 15Kg One 1-seat (dimension H70xW87xD102 cm ) 11Kg One pouf (dimension H34xW87xD80 cm ) 6Kg One corner seat (dimension H70xW102xD102 cm ) 15Kg Our chief upholsterer has been re-upholstering these cult sofas for more than 14 years. We are well established as a specialist in re-furbishing vintage, A-label seating like: B&B Italia, De Sede Swiss, Cassina Italy and other European top design brands (see our other listings) Re-upholstering a “Togo” correctly requires very specialized skills to get the exact and unique fluffy look, as it’s meant to be. To bring the “Togo” back to life it’s not only very specialized skills that are needed, but the correct leather, fabric and materials are also needed. The original foam structure from Ligne Roset are re-used. The original used fabric or leather has been replaced with our high end signature leather or very durable stain free fabrics. The labels or pins are not attached on request of Ligne Roset ROSET SA., but can be re-attached or send if requested. To get the vintage Togo back in prime condition we use a high end 4cm Dacron filling to stitch the padding. This is required to get the necessary volume. The leather or fabric needs to look fluffy and inviting. We also use one of the best and strongest sewing threads in the world: Serafill. Unbeatable price, diamond quality! Be aware and look out for incorrectly re-upholstered Togo, they will not give you a comfortable seating experience as they should, sometimes they use cheap leather or low-grade materials and they use an incorrect cheaper and inferior re-upholstering stitching and assembling method. If you want to be sure about the quality of our leather or stain-free fabrics, and if you plan on buying one, ask for a sample so you can compare the difference. We use new plain breathable fabrics for the bottom decking and new high quality zippers, so your Togo will stay good for years to come. We keep the old dirty used original Ligne Roset bottom decking, but we do not re-use them to re-upholster the Togo for obvious quality reasons. We keep them for authenticity reasons and as proof of provenance, same reason we keep the original label or pin. Thank you for your interest in this listing. If you are looking for more than one original vintage TOGO module, or a special combination set, our experts can find them in France, as good as new, tested and ready to be re-upholstered. We use our unique stain free durable fabric or our signature full grain leather in black or cognac or the leather of your choice. The colour choices are displayed in the pictures added to this listing. The way we can work, gives you the freedom to get the desired Ligne Roset TOGO(s) you really like. They will now perfectly match your interior and personal taste at 1/2 price of buying a new TOGO.

About the Designer

Michel Ducaroy

The Togo sofa isn’t the only piece of furniture Michel Ducaroy designed, but it is certainly the one that he will be long remembered for. The cozy, crumpled pillow-like sofa seems never to go out of style, and its features encapsulate Ducaroy’s design philosophy of combining ergonomics and comfort with high-tech synthetic materials like foam, quilting and thermoformed plastics.

Ducaroy was born into a family of French furniture manufacturers who specialized in residential interiors as well as fittings for ocean liners. However, he elected to study sculpture at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, and this foundation would greatly influence his work and the way he thought about shape and form. Ducaroy worked at the family business and later founded his design studio in 1952.

In 1954, Ducaroy began working with Ligne Roset, the French family-run manufacturing giant known across the world for creating high-end seating. There, he was able to propel the research and development of their designs, and his work quickly became integral to the company’s identity.

Ducaroy’s innovations with thermoformed plastics and biomorphic forms can be seen in early designs for Ligne Roset in the ’60s and ’70s, like the cozy, modular Adria chair and low-sitting Kashima sofa. He designed the Togo furniture line in 1973 using an innovative all-foam seating structure that was covered with polyester; decades later the Togo sofa remains a Ligne Roset best seller.

The low rise and unique curve of any Ducaroy sofa make it instantly recognizable, and the distinctly Pop art–inspired, organic forms that the celebrated designer created from synthetic materials like polyester and foam made a powerful statement at their inception, as they continue to do now.
