In the realm of 1970s design, the Sistema 61 emerges as a striking testament to the Italian design world, where it was commonplace to see sectional sofas featuring a soft, bulky layout and focusing on qualities like versatility and adaptability. Created by Italian designer Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, this design embraces a whimsical allure thanks to its voluminous, round form and the application of patterned blue fabric. This seamless seating system consists of eight elements, which gives the opportunity to create different configurations.
Please note that the fabric is in good, used condition with some stains and loose seams. Reupholstery is possible before shipping by our experienced craftsman and -women in our own in-house restoration atelier. With high attention for the original, they make sure every piece retains its value and is ready for the many years to come. We kindly ask you to contact our design experts for further information about the endless possibilities our restoration and upholstery atelier has to offer. Of course, a locally organized reupholstery is possible as well.

Giancarlo Piretti
Giancarlo Piretti was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1940. He attended art schools there and subsequently taught Interior Design. During that time, he was also designing furniture for Anonima Castelli. He has won numerous awards and has items in many museums, including MoMA, New York. He still lives and works in Bologna with his son, designer Alessandro Piretti.
