About the Item
Pixel Light, the new seating system design by Sergio Bicego, stems from the desire to expand on the concept of form flexibility to reach a more sophisticated one of fluidity of spaces. We investigated new possibilities and uses for the Pixel sofa, the iconic project for Saba, that this year celebrates its tenth anniversary. We lightened its form by improving the technical performances but while still maintaining intact its unique style that now allows it to inhabit both interior and exterior spaces. The thought that accompanied us through this project was indeed the desire of dissolving the boundaries between inside and outside. Pixel Light outdoor: its characteristic is perceivable from the the precise silhouette of the structure in steel for corrosion resistance, very elegant in the varnished champagne or noir finish. It can be embellished by textile bands that bestow upon it a summer allure, or left pure for a more essential look. Customizable in the combination of the elements, it allows for the classic backrest panels, the lower padded armrests for an alternative comfort or the new low table element in naturally varnished iroko wood. The main innovation that we are proud of consists of a particular seating construction technique that allows for the discharge of excess water. The frame is in marine plywood and heat-welded, water resistant canvas is used for the padding.
Born in 1953 he left formal education and began, almost by chance, his experience in the field of the padded furniture. Fascinated by the world that surrounded him, he eagerly devoted himself to researching building forms and techniques which have borne fruit for the companies in which he worked. In 1991 he opened his studio as an independent designer and in 1993 he came across Saba Italia. New challenges and new incentives lead to the creation of the “nomad sofa”: Taos, Ananta, Limes, Nesting, Pixel. Creations that were born from reflection of new desires that encourage us to live in a less formal way, equipped with systems that enable change with simple gestures, by playing with shapes.
Structure: In marine plywood with variable-density polyurethane foam core (35IM – 40IPP – 50IP and 40 soft and flexible to slow return) clothed with solotex 200gr/sqm and clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric. Armrests are made in marine plywood with variable-density polyurethane foam (30IM – 40IPP e 40 soft and flexible to slow return) clothed with solotex 200gr/sqm clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric. Back panels are in marine plywood padded with polyurethane foam 40IPP and clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric. Shelf in Iroko wood h. 20 mm.
Feet: Painted steel base h. 19,5 cm. Available with or without fabric bands.
Padding: Back cushions are in polyester fiber divided into sections and clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric. The cylinder, diameter 22 cm, is in polyurethane foam core 30IM with black painted metal insert and clothed with solotex 200gr/sqm and clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric. The cylinder, diameter 11 cm, is in polyurethane foam core 30IM, covered with resin 100gr/sqm and clothed with water-repellent heat-sealed fabric.
Cover waterproof: Waterproof and fire-retardant cover with taped stitchings and trim with coulisse for the closing.

Sergio Bicego
Furniture designer Sergio Bicego produces works that merge luxury and comfort. Lavishly stuffed and sumptuously upholstered, each piece is inviting in its joining of function and beauty. He designs pieces that meet an ideal of form, instilled with elegant curves and smart lines, along with soft, serene colors, all adding tranquil energy to any space. His sofas epitomize the comfortable appeal of his creations, possessing an allure of ease and freedom from constraint.
Born in Italy in 1953, Bicego began his formal education with classical studies. He left school before graduation and found his way into the field of furniture upholstery. In learning the trade, Bicego became fascinated by the styles and shapes of furniture.
In 1991, Bicego established his furniture design studio. In 1993, he met Amelia Pegorin, owner of Saba Italia. In 1999, Saba Italia launched a line of sofas by Bicego. It became one of the company’s best sellers, remaining among its top items today.
Bicego has since designed many popular lines for Saba Italia and has collaborated with other design companies. In 2016, he created the Alcove model sofa for Alberta Made in Italy. Bicego continues to partner with top-name makers and create designs from his studio in San Martino di Lupari, Italy.
