This piece is absolutely gorgeous and one of a kind. Completely restored and upholstered in a thick iridescent silk taffeta which changes from a rich grey to a purplish or plum color depending on the light. hand-carved giltwood (gold) frame with medallions and detailed hand carvings has a beautiful patina that comes naturally with age. A large portion of its original mercury gilding still remains and in some parts, the gesso shows underneath, adding a striking contrast to the new and luxurious upholstery. Serpentine back and front. This gorgeous antique settee is finished off with a thick, plump, down cushion for added comfort and beauty, but it can be used without cushion (see Image 7). Measurements are listed below. Depth measurement is for overall depth of settee. Inside seat depth is 21".

Good. Very sturdy and solid. Beautiful patina on wood which remains in its original gilded condition. Light chips on wood frame commensurate with the age of this piece (over 150 years old)..
