Italian Neoclassical Carved Upholstered Settee

About the Item

A beautiful, elegantly sophisticated 19th century European style custom Italian settee window bench. Exquisitely hand-crafted in northern Italy, finished in luxurious neoclassical inspired Louis XVI taste, very fine quality, craftsmanship and detailing. Having a hand carved and painted solid wood frame (believed beech), in cream / antique off white with rustic, distressed paint, faux patina finish that adds an element of relaxed, comfortable warmth. While tall, out-splayed scroll rolled arm gracefully rise, forming the delicate, swanky silhouette. A modern upholstered padded seat rests atop the ornately decorated frame, with interlaced floral foliate carvings, fine relief work, flanked by rosette medallion embellishments over superior undulating scalloped edge ornamentation, all rising on four squared tapered and fluted pyramidal shaped legs. The previous owner had it recently reupholstered in bespoke high quality blush hue beige slubbed linen woven embroidered with gilt pearl luster Baroque foliage pattern, with lovely texture, luxurious luster and sheen. Provenance: Acquired from the impressive, wonderfully curated, prestigious Preston Hollow estate of Dallas Star hockey goaltender Kari and wife Abbe Lehtonen; Dallas, Texas. Dimensions (approx): 31.5" High, 58.5" Wide, 22" Deep Seat height: 21" This stunning, exceptionally executed antique reproduction would make a wonderful addition and is sure to compliment many of today's finest contemporary interior styles, including Swedish Gustavian, Scandinavian Country, French Provincial, Hollywood glam, shabby chic, romantic farmhouse industrial, transitional, high Victorian, refined Regency, and light, airy Hamptons coastal to name just a few.
