Chinese Early 20th Century Red Lacquer Traveller's Folding Chair with Woven Seat

About the Item

An antique Chinese red lacquered folding traveller’s chair from the early 20th century, with carved motifs, footrest and woven fabric. Created in China during the early years of the 20th century, this folding chair features a red lacquered body presenting a slanted back with lamp-hanger upper rail, adorned with a central splat, pierced with bird and foliage motifs on latticed accents. The seat is made of woven fabric and is resting on an X-frame, that allows the piece to be folded to be moved easily. The front stretcher comprises of a scalloped footrest. With its unpretentious silhouette and red lacquer, this folding traveller’s chair will bring a touch of relaxed elegance to any décor.
