About the Item

A very early and rare example of a J & J Kohn Secessionist design containing many hallmarks of Hoffmann's more well know designs. Most interesting is the treatment of the bracing solution for the legs- a Harbinger of the ball solution yet to come. Our chairs are from the series shown against the wall at the German Werkbund Exhibition, Cologne, 1914 (see: Derek E Ostergard 'bentwood and metal furniture: 1850-1946' page 113.
