Swedish Pair of Period Baroque Carved-Wood Side Chairs, Circa 1730
About the Item
A Swedish pair of Period Baroque carved and painted wood side chairs from the 18th century. These antique chairs from Sweden, circa 1730, have tall back, with top rails adorn in an pierce-carved crest with volute scrolls that create a heart-shape at their center. The back-splats are also pierce-carved and shapely. The front seat rail has a scalloped skirt and side rails are accentuated with brackets just below the seat at each corner. The front cabriole legs and rear sabre legs are supported with nicely-turned wooden spindle stretchers. The finish is both a mix of the original and later paint. These 18th century Swedish period Baroque side chairs will make for a wonderful intimate accent grouping in a living room, bedroom, or office.
