About the Item

A striking 3-seater sofa in Cuban mahogany and green velvet fabric by Frits Henningsen. In competition with his teacher Kaare Klint, Henningsen was one of the outstanding Danish designers of the early 20th century. A central aim was to modernise and refine earlier 19th century designs. This classic Henningsen design is both elegant and accommodating. It was produced circa 1940. Re-upholstered more recently, the luxurious sage velvet is in good vintage condition. The sprung seats are very comfortable. It is in excellent structural condition. There are a few minor signs of age, but they do not detract from the sensational overall impression.
