About the Item

A sizable Swedish Late Gustavian sofa made in Stockholm by master furniture maker Ephraim Stahl (active 1794-1820). Signed ES on a back leg. Frames and sashes are decorated with upright leaves, also known as leaf cut. The front and side edges meet in decorated cut fleurons. The leg tops are finished with over-collaring decorated with egg-shaped godrons over fluted bases. Later light grey paint and newly reupholstered in linen.
