High Backed Sofa with Interior Armrests by Frits Henningsen, 1930s. This is one of Frits Henningsen's most revered designs. First exhibited in 1936 at the Copenhagen Cabinetmakers Guild Exhibition, it was most likely conceived a few years earlier. The design is strikingly modern for the mid-1930s with its clean lines and expressive form. It is notable for its elegant silhouette and interior armrests.
This example is upholstered in vegetable tanned reddish-brown leather and sits on legs of Cuban mahogany.
