"Fenix" is a two-seat sofa, designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba and manufactured by Driade, with a wooden and steel structure supported by anthracite painted steel legs, polyurethane foam padding and cushions with polyurethane foams and goose feather padding. Fixed structure leather cover and removable cushions in fabric or leather. Indoor use only. DIMENSIONS: D. 34.2", W. 83.4", H. 29.5", Seat H. 17.3" Sectional sofa has been the main recurrent theme concerning typological researches since last century golden age of design. Ludovica and Roberto Palomba deal with it emphasizing the sense of suspension from the floor, thanks to a thin metal structure, and modelling a great peninsula, provided with a gracefully asymmetric shape, in the version with terminals. LUDOVICA and ROBERTO PALOMBA, architects, work and live in Milan. They founded Palomba Serafini Associati in 1994. They received many international awards such as Compasso D'Oro, Elle Decoration International Design Award, Red Dot, Design Plus, Good Design Award, German Design Award. Ludovica and Roberto Palomba plan architectures and design exhibitions worldwide. This rare and complete seating group is a design by Kho Liang Ie for the company of Artifort. Kho Liang Ie joined Artifort in 1958 as estethic advisor. The 020 model was designed in 1958 and was a turning point for Artifort in their designs and was a representation of Artiforts new design philosophy. This can be considered as their first modernist design and for many to follow. The seating group offered is, considering age and use, in a very good condition. The frame is bright and shiny. It is constructed by connecting the legs with the horizontal black metal parts and the upper horizontal chrome part on the back. The structure is very visible in this design as well as how the seat is put onto the frame. The seats are all upholstered in the same black leather. Also the backs are upholstered in leather so it can be placed in the middle of a room. The upholstery has been redone years ago and does show signs of age and use, no missing buttons. The table is of the same material for the frame, with a black lacquered wooden top. This top does show some light scratching from age and use.
