About the Item

We are delighted to offer for sale this extremely rare pair of original mid-Victorian Howard & Son’s style Chesterfield club sofas in aged green leather. These had the original Howard and Son’s castors which were replaced in 1966 when the sofas were completely restored, both were fully reupholstered with plain russet leather then hand dyed this stunning vintage green, the castors as mentioned were replaced as they were basically destroyed, the frames aren’t stamped so far as I can see, it may be further up inside the frame however if you do a little research this model was only ever made by Howard & Son’s however as there not stamped I'm simply listing them in the style of and not the actual thing If you have a look through Christies achieves you will see some of the more basic examples with fabric not leather selling for nearly £20,000 like these These are the full serpentine fronted models, you will never see a finer pair than these, the frames are solid Walnut, the base is coil sprung with hessian straps and supports, the stuffing is horse hair, the hand nail tacked base cover is also hessian, really these are the finest of the Fine We have deep cleaned hand condition waxed and hand polished them from top to bottom, the leather has a truly stunning original honest patina, we have done our upmost to add to it with light sympathetic restoration The brown leather rocking chair pictured is included in my other items, it’s pictured for colour reference, if the winning bidder would like these sofas can be fully recoloured the same as this chair Please note the delivery fee for both the UK and International is just a guide, for an accurate cost please email your postcode Dimensions: Height: 68cm Width: 195cm Depth: 94cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask Any questions please feel free to ask before you bid Delivery or collection This item is available for collection from our Wimbledon warehouses SW19-3BE, we can have it delivered nationwide to include Scotland Wales and Ireland, please contact me with your postcode for a delivery quotation, please be sure to include which item you would like to buy as the price is determined on size and distance, if you would like more than one piece of furniture we offer a substantial discount on the second and third item, for international shipping please view the below information Condition Please view the very detailed pictures as they form part of the description around condition Please also ask any questions before you bid and not after, all of our items are sold as seen and as listed.
