Rare McKay Art Deco Chrome Banded Glider Sofa 1933 Worlds Fair

About the Item

A steel framed satin black glider sofa with curved chrome and metal banded arms black upholstered cushions with medium gray piping . To each end there are sculptural flat bar supports integrated into the sides giving the piece an extra design element and strength . The sofa has a smooth gliding motion and the restored soft contact fabric cushions make for excellent comfort . A very rare form manufactured by the McKay Craft company Pittsburgh , PA. leaders in metal furniture during the Art Deco period , this styled sofa was used in the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair Florida House display . Design attribution to Salvatore Bevelacqua and Percival Goodman .

A very well crafted and thought out designed vanity from the Art Deco period a tall illuminated mirror with side switch and swing out pedestals on chromed rods and the original stool .
