About the Item
The Lorfords ‘Soho’ sofa is a replica of a 1930s Swedish Art Deco sofa, originally purchased in Helsingborg. The frame is manufactured in exactly the same way as its predecessor, and though the sofa looks exactly like the original, we have adapted the upholstery, using natural materials, to bring more comfort and sustainability to our latest addition to the range.
As with all our contemporary sofas, The Soho is made from a hardwood frame using beech, with a hand-tied coil spring seat (the traditional method, without the use of foam). What makes The Soho so comfortable is the high down content in the seat cushions (50% down, 50% feather).
The Soho can be built to your specifications: the leg finishes are shown in oak but can be made in your choice of wood. Similarly, the size of the sofa can be amended to suit your space, and the down content can be amended as per your specification.
Price excludes fabric; to be covered in customer’s choice of material. Standard meterage = 10m (plain fabrics). For patterns, and bespoke sizes, we can advise on fabric quantity.

Like the original, this is an elegant sofa of timeless design. A nod to a traditional Regency style sofa, but with contemporary reworking, the clean, curving lines of the frame look equally at home in modern and traditional interiors.
We build our Elmstead up from a hardwood beech frame, using only traditional methods and materials. With a hand-tied coil-sprung seat, there is no foam used in the build up.
