About the Item
Rare collector's item: A well-preserved, stable Thonet sofa with a Viennese wicker seat that was restored a few years ago. Designation in the Thonet catalog from 1904: Sofa No. 3.
The weave is completely intact and was probably replaced a few years ago. Some parts of the wooden structure were also repaired at this time - see pictures. The beech wood is stained walnut color. I have just reworked the shellac surfaces so that the sofa now looks very good. The paper label, which unfortunately only partially exists, is the first paper trademark of the Thonet company and refers to an early year of manufacture around 1860. The sun with the number embossed into the seat frame can also only be found in very old Thonet models. Therefore I assume that the sofa is around 150 years old.
