About the Item

Dualités is a range of furniture and lighting that combines smooth, natural-looking carved solid wood with contrasting textured elements reminiscent of hammered metal. These two elements come together in a single piece, with the aim of surprising and highlighting the ambivalence of human nature. 6 to 8 weeks lead time. About the designer A self-taught artist, he founded his studio to develop his own approach to design, which combines functional objects and art.Antoine aspires to create unique, handcrafted pieces that blur the line between functional objects and sculpture. He has developed a creative process based on observation and experimentation, incorporating prototypes and research. He places particular emphasis on elements such as texture, sensuality, curves, shine, and light, which enrich his creations. His inspiration comes from both humanity and nature, allowing for a harmonious fusion between these two worlds. By designing pieces that accompany people’s lives while drawing inspiration from natural forms and materials, Antoine reconciles humans with their environment. This approach underscores the idea that design is not limited to functionality, but can also evoke a deep connection with the natural world. Using high-quality French wood, often reclaimed and carefully selected, he creates works that transcend the functional object to become evocative sculptures.By integrating environmental concerns into his practice, he aspires to design unique pieces that respect both human cultural heritage and the intrinsic beauty of nature. This approach establishes a dialogue between art and everyday life, while emphasizing the importance of sustainable and thoughtful creation.

Maxime Old, Conseil Chair
By Maxime Old
Located in Paris, FR
This dining room chair was designed by Maxime Old in 1960 for the Rouen City Council. One of the designer’s most emblematic projects. The Anne Jacquemin Sablon gallery presents a contemporary edition of the council chair which is characterized by its satin sycamore base and its velvet seat. The satin finish of the base, creates a polished effect contrasting with the velvet seat. Please note that the velvet is included in the price. You can select a color from our collection of velvet faux mohair. Maxime Old (1910-1991) is one of the most important designers, and interior architects of the 20th century. His work was highly appreciated and noticed from the beginning of his career in the 1930s until the end of the 1980s. Starting the 1960s he became more interested in more global furniture, also thinking of his environment. He then became an interior designer and designed the entirety of certain spaces such as the Paquebot...

The Brittany-based designer, artist, and furniture maker Jean-Luc Le Mounier has been acquainted with the world of craftsmanship since his childhood, a large part of which was spent in the workshop of his grandfather, a carpenter. “Already when I was very young,” says Le Mounier, “I was passionate about building objects, I made miniature wooden...
