Industrial Factory Bauhaus Stool by Rowac / Robert Wagner Germany, 1910-1920s

About the Item

This iconic three-legged steel stool "Stahl Schemel Modell 1" is made by Rowac (Karl RObert WAgner in Chemnitz) and is known to enthusiasts and collectors as a industrial design classic. It was developed 1905 and exhibited for the first time 1909 at the Leipzig Fair. it was used at the Bauhaus and is considered the original type of workshop stool. Walter Gropius used the stool for his new Bauhaus building in Dessau. The Rowac Stool is exhibited at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna and at the Institute of Art History at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. All three legs are marked with the iconic ROWAC emblem. This stool probably dates from the 1910-1920s. Size: diameter seat 35 cm (appr. 13.8" in.), base 45.5 x 45.5 x 45 cm (appr. 17.9" x 17.9" x 17.9" in.), height 49 cm. (appr. 19.3" in.).
