Italian Antique Wooden Grotto Stool w/Carved-Shell Seat
About the Item
A beautiful Italian Venetian carved-wood grotto chair, with adjustable height, from the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This antique bench from Italy features a fruitwood carved-clam shell seat, atop a rounded apron with swag skirting and floral-carved embellishments, presented upon three cabriole style legs with animal paw feet, resting on a tripartite base. The seat has a swivel mechanism offering adjustable seating heights. This late 19th century Venetian grotto stool would be a lovely piano stool (as perhaps its originally intended use), vanity bench, or a decorative accent seating option for a living-room.
