1820's Italian Dante Stool w/Nice Paw Feet
About the Item
An Italian carved wood dante stool with upholstered seat from the early 19th century. This small bench from Italy, circa 1820's, has been designed in the typical dante style with legs consisting of two half-moon shapes, which attach at their rounded peaks at middle, and adorn with a gold toned medallion where they meet. They are braced along the underside of the bench with a nicely turned wooden stretcher. The legs terminate into really nice paw feet. The woven horsehair seat upholstery is either original or quite old, and is embellished with a needlepoint floral wreath design (which could either be kept as is or newly upholstered to suit your aesthetic.) This early 19th century Italian curule stool would be beautiful as an accent stool (or possibly a foot stool) for a bedroom or den.
