Japanese antique wooden high stool/20th century/Wabi-sabi chair

About the Item

This is a platform made from an old Japanese log. It is not known what it was originally used for. For example, it may have been part of a pillar in a large house or temple. It is 54.5cm high, about the height of a high stool. In any case, it is made of fine Zelkova wood, and the beautiful grain is spread throughout. And the cracks in the wood caused by aging, which are fixed with metal fittings, are also expressive and beautiful. The top of the chair is cut at a slight angle, so there is a difference in height of about 1cm. The bottom was also wobbly, so we applied a hard urethane seal to prevent the wobble. It would be difficult to find such a simple yet powerful stool. This is a recommended item.
