About the Item

This decorative mid-century French stool, crafted circa 1960 in the Louis XV style, features a hand-carved beechwood frame with a soft cream-toned painted finish accented by silver-leafed shell and foliate motifs. The shaped apron and cabriole legs are adorned with ornamental reliefs at each knee, while an X-form stretcher base provides structural balance and visual interest, centered by a domed metal finial. Upholstered in a striated silk-blend fabric in tones of blush, peach, and beige, the seat shows natural fading, discoloration, and a visible tear. The frame retains an appealing patina with worn paint, minor losses, and surface irregularities consistent with age and use.
