Jack Eriksson and Dustin John are the design-duo behind Arcana Furniture & Lighting. Their work is a culmination of diverse backgrounds that offer a fresh, interdisciplinary approach to design. All objects are expertly crafted by their fabrication team in their Ridgewood, NY design studio. The result of their unique perspectives is one-of-a-kind, beautiful, thoughtful objects. The intimate relationship we share with the objects around us is the purest form of communication we have with the physical world. Dissolving the varnish that usually covers decorative and functional items awakens the user to the people and elements that have produced these objects. Our work forces the consideration of the components of the world around us. Use and dis-use of everyday materials creates an otherworldly tension that is at the center of our practice. We create a space that resides in this tension, one offering the user a dispret view of mass consumption and production that is usually only reserved for insiders. Our aim is to create new objects while at the same time accessing our specific and common visual and material histories.
