Ottoman with Hand-Knotted White Rope and Wool Yarn by Hinterland Design

About the Item

Conceived as a beautified version of a Pacific Northwest crab trap, this ottoman/stool is not only an intricate piece of crafting handiwork, but also a comfortable place to rest. A perfect hybrid of design and functionality, the 'Tidal Flux' Ottoman is made entirely by hand knot-by-knot just as fishermen have mended nets for centuries. The rope top nods to a more modern hippie macrame aesthetic. Following a consistent white palette and pattern makes the pieces reproducible, but some variations in upholstery occur due to the handmade nature of the knot work. Ottoman is sold as an individual piece. Shown in main image is 24" W x 19" H piece with white hand-knotted and cotton rope, wool yarn and nylon cord on a brass-plated steel base. For color rope version, see 1stdibs listing #LU314439032183 Options include: - All white or colored rope, yarn and cord - Brass or copper metal base Please contact Hinterland Design to discuss customization options. Hinterland designs and manufactures each of their pieces in its Vancouver, Canada workshop and showroom.
