About the Item

A vibrant yellow fibreglass stool designed by Nanna Ditzel for Domus Danica in 1969, after her move to London in 1968. In every aspect the stool is heavily influenced by the vitality of the 1960s -the space race, material/technical innovations, as well as society’s changing cultural and political attitudes. Ditzel's fibreglass series of furniture also consisted of a chair, barstool, armchair and flowerpot which were available in white, orange, and turquoise, as well as yellow. The form, material and colour of each of Ditzel’s fibreglass designs captures the zeitgeist excellently. Fascinatingly, this also extends to the quantities produced. Due to the high cost of production and the oil crisis of 1973 the number of pieces made where very low, which in turn makes this piece very rare. Features, Domus Danica, makers sticker on underside.
