Established in 2006, Morentz has a team of approximately 55 restorers, upholsterers, interior advisers and art historians, making it a gallery, workshop and upholstery studio, all in one. Every day, a carefully selected array of 20th-century furniture arrives from all over the world at the firm’s warehouse, where the team thoroughly examines each piece to determine what, if any, work needs to be done. Whether that means new upholstery or a complete restoration, Morentz's aim is always to honor the designer’s intention while fulfilling the wishes of the client. Grand high back chair newly upholstered by the experienced craftspeople in our in-house atelier. This chair features an exceptional high backrest with wings, giving it a very theatrical appearance. Typical for Italian midcentury design are the curvy, bold shapes such as the voluptuous armrests. The green feet are small and conical. This chair is a comfortable classic winged chair with an elegant high back that will fit perfectly in a cosy corner.
Guglielmo Ulrich (1904-1977) was an Italian architect, furniture designer and writer. After attending the Scuola Speciale di Architettura at the Brera Academy and graduating in architecture at Politecnico di Milano in 1927 Ulrich started his successful career. Together with Renato Wild he founded a furniture manufacturing company called ‘Arca’ in 1930. The company focused on exquisite materials and luxurious designs.
