About the Item

A wonderfully rustic early Italian hand carved cassone with egg and dart moulded frame, time-softened wood and solid panels on the front and sides. Although this chest has suffered wood worm damage, losses to various areas and repairs made, it has only added to the charm, character and patina of the piece. This blanket box can be utilized as a coffee table, a seating bench or at the foot of a bed for added storage as a blanket chest.
