About the Item

A very fine example of an early to mid 18th century New England Chippendale Mule or Blanket Chest in very good condition. Old hardware in the original holes on the bottom three drawers and what is amazing about this piece is that thankfully no one has in over 250 years ever installed hardware on the upper false drawer fronts. There is a piece of wood attached to the inside top section held in with rose head nails that looks like it may have held some kind of tools or cutlery. The drawers have nice big fat dovetails and are made out of full 1/2” white Pine and rounded on the top edges. The lid retains the original snipe hinges in excellent condition. Graduated drawers over nice tall bracket feet. There are no traces of this piece having ever been painted that I can find. Drawers are all waxed and gliding smooth in the case. Old refinish with an excellent color and patina.
